Don't know if this thread exists already but here we go.

MY pick: Rory McIlroy (+900)
It makes sense in, every, single, way. The 150th Open Championship is all set up for Rory to break his eight-year major drought.
His recent good form has only solidified my pick. He loves St. Andrews and comes into this event ranked first in the field for SG/total over the last two months.

Check out his data:

star-studded leaderboard across the pond........

14 of the last 15 Grand Slam titles has had the winner come from the final three pairings after Friday;

its Moving Day:

final pairing
C Smith -13
C Young -11

penultimate group
R McIlroy -10
V Hovlund -10

3rd last pairing
D Johnson -9
S Scheffler -8

with the quality of these names , i think come Sunday we make it 15 of 16

notables;
Hatton -8, Cantlay -7, A Scott -7

The power of technology has basically crippled The Old Course, the home of golf. #9,10, 12 , 18 are basically very long par 3's for many of these guys, lol. 6 hour rounds as groups wait on the green for tee shots. Rory hit an iron to the green @ 18 on Thursday, 345 yds .........a defenseless golf course, actually its defense is mother nature

no real blow-up holes out there, need a real errant tee shot for that. C Smith's weakness is off the tee (if you want to call it a weakness)--but on this course that shouldnt be magnified. His short game is exquisite, putting is world class -- these greens will reward a great putter and he definitely can roll it

Saturday's weather forecast is for even more benign conditions than the first two days! Expecting pins tucked on each hole lol, R &A in full blown panic mode .The benign weather conditions will make players in the -4 to -6 range possibly stay in the game, need 63/64 tomorrow....

MOVING DAY AT The Old Course!!!!!!

You don’t see many birdies at the road hole….

Rory drilled it right in the middle of the cup…

yeah, good point. #17 can be a blow-up hole--lose it right its into the hotel , get into that pot bunker and could be a shit show depending on lie. Hell of a 2nd shot by Rory to get it onto the proper tier--190yd 2nd shot! hit the bank, killed it. So well done

scores are out there, Kisner 65

pins more favorable for a draw ball flight, R&A trying to keep the Rory train going :)

Championship Sunday :)

Rory is 33 yrs old . Last time the prodigy won a major? 8 fuckin' yrs ago . Oddsmaker likes his chances

Seems to be in good place--added Bob Rotella (sports psychologist) and Brad Faxon (putting) to his entourage . The big change that i see is the putting-
when over a 4-5 footer there is a massive difference in thinking you got it Vs KNOWING you got it. He's rolling it .

Smith, Scottie, DJ need 65ish, imo . I dont see both Rory AND Victor coming back to the field . So far a 66 and 64 (S Burns) has been put in , doable

gl Rory!!!!!

big win for Titleist golf, congrats

i didnt know Cameron Young played hockey! geez, that explains his toughness down the stretch :). He played high level minor hockey!! AAA at Honeybaked in Detroit-- haha, them and Little Caesers typically produced quality teams. He's a strong dude, keeps his hands high then gravity does the rest--hits it a mile !

his mom;

“I was so glad he quit playing hockey,” Barbara said. “I did not want to spend half my life in freezing cold arenas.”
